Lud was considered an outstanding performer as a hunting dog and field trailer. He was the youngest dog in the 1960 National Open and the oldest dog in that same stake in 1968. He ran a total of 17 Nationals, 9 Opens and 8 Amateurs. Throughout his competitive career Lud earned 232 All-Age points. 165 Open and 67.5 Amateur. He was well known, loved, and respected by all.
