| Every dog owner hopes their pup will grow into a healthy, loyal, friendly, calm companion. The fact that My Girl McKinley (Mickey) has become that and more for our family is a true blessing. The fact that she has also become an absolute hunting machine makes her a rare and complete dog.
Given Mickey's loaded pedigree, it shouldn't have come as a surprise, but as Micky grew into our family, we realized her hunting aptitude was worth developing, so I decided to run her in hunting tests. I had never formally trained a dog for hunt tests, so Micky was at a definite disadvantage having me for a trainer as opposed to a professional. As we arrived at our first hunt test, I really didn't know what to expect. Despite only a 50% test pass rate, Mickey flew through the tests going 4 for 4 over the course of two weekends and earning her junior title without a single failure.
As you can see, Mickey is a stunning red with classic head and body proportions. She hunts at about 68 pounds. We love Mickey's intense field drive, calm manners in the blind, along with her laid-back, affectionate demeanor. |
