NFC-AFC Butte Blue Moon (Moon) was purchased, by the Grunwalds, from Bob Sparks of Butte, MT, in September of 1965 at the age of two. Bing and Brownie turned Moon over to their trainer, D.L. Walters, who had guided their dog, NFC-AFC Big Stone Hope to his national championship in 1962.
Moon quickly demonstrated that he was an extraordinary dog; he was the youngest dog to run the 1966 National Championship Stake. On March 4-5, 1967, he completed his AFC by placing 1st in the Open and 2nd in the Amateur, being handled by ?Brownie? in both stakes. Moon?s FC was completed September 24, 1967, when he won the Open, again he was handled by ?Brownie?.
1967 NFC-AFC Butte Blue Moon accumulated 131 Amateur and 93 Open points during an illustrious All-Age career which concluded with his retirement in 1973.
